Part-time General Maintenance Assistant - 3 days per week
We are looking for a Part-time General Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Appletree Treatment Centre. Preferably this would be a three days a week position, however for the right person there could be some flexibility.
You need to be a self-motivated problem-solver who is a team player with a full driving licence, as our premises cover both Kendal and Grange over Sands. As a member of our Facilities team we provide work vehicles, a uniform and tools. You will be carrying out maintenance and repairs of all our buildings, fittings, furnishings and services - you won’t be bored!
The annual salary is £26,824 to £28,142, pro rata. We need you to be available for emergency cover on a rota basis for which you will be paid £30 per call out plus £20 per hour and an additional 24 hours of annual leave.
The Role
Your main duties and responsibilitie will include, but will not be limited to:
- Respond immediately to emergencies to remove danger and make safe.
- Perform preventative maintenance and handle basic repairs.
- Make certain that tools, chemicals and equipment are used and stored correctly and safety procedures adhered to at all times.
- Understanding and ensuring the implementation of our Health and Safety and Hygiene policies, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
- Reporting to the Facilities Manager or Maintenance Officer any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
- Promoting safe working practice in the home.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with the children.
- Comply with the requirements of Appletree Treatment Centre and related legislation concerning children.
- Have responsibility for the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children.
